Here are the steps to delete a contractor in BrightCIS
- Go to your Contractors screen (home screen).
- Locate the contractor you wish to delete (you can use the search bar if needed).
Click the spanner icon to the far right of the contractor’s name.
- Select Delete contractor.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Important
If you delete a contractor in the 2026/27 tax year, this will delete the contractor across all tax years, as the contractor record is linked.
Before you start
User permissions:
Only certain user roles (e.g. Owner or Admin) can delete contractors.If you do not see the Delete contractor option(greyed out), it is likely that your user account does not have the required permissions.
Warning – Deleted contractors may not be recoverable
If you accidentally delete a contractor (for example, you didn’t mean to remove them from earlier tax years), please contact the support team as soon as possible to request that the contractor be reinstated. If too much time passes, it may not be possible to restore the contractor, so it’s best to get in touch straight away.
